Get to know Ryan Giacomarro, Mid-Atlantic Market Manager
Q&A
Tell us about your background.
I grew up in Garfield, New Jersey. I was the youngest of four children, and the first one in the family to graduate from college. I attended Villanova University and received my M.B.A. from Fordham University. I have been in the financial services industry for almost 30 years, and I have been with J.P. Morgan Private Bank for the last four years. I have the CFP® and CPWA® designations.
Describe your leadership style.
I focus on being a servant leader. I wake up each day focused on representing our team in the marketplace and working on their behalf.
How do you foster a culture of growth and development within your team?
Talent is the most important asset we have as an organization and a key pillar of our strategy in the Mid-Atlantic Market. Our primary focus and main objective is to make our team as productive as possible, and to support their efforts to reach their personal and professional goals.
How would your colleagues describe you?
I believe they would describe me as very hardworking and committed to the team’s success. I believe they benefit from my industry knowledge and understanding of the competitive landscape.
What’s the best piece of advice you were given?
Success comes from hard work, intelligence and being a bit lucky. That luck, though, is created by being prepared to take advantage of opportunities when they are presented to you.
What do you like most about being at J.P. Morgan Private Bank?
The power of the brand is second to none. Having a J.P. Morgan business card is an honor, and it’s impressive both to clients and prospects. I also think the organization does an incredible job of balancing the four legs of the stool: clients, employees, shareholders and our communities.
Tell us about your team across the Mid-Atlantic.
Our team is composed of a quality group of individuals who are committed to the success of their clients and their colleagues. The team is a wonderful combination of long-term J.P. Morgan employees and those who more recently joined us from the competition, some who are early in their careers and others who are industry veterans. Finally, despite the team’s terrific success over the past few years, they continue to seek new and impressive growth opportunities.
Now in the Philly office, what are you hoping to accomplish?
This is the first time in my career that I have taken over a business with so much recent momentum, but we still have tremendous opportunities:
- Talent—Hiring and retaining those that are accretive to both our business and culture.
- Branding—Representing the J.P. Morgan Private Bank and JPMorganChase brand in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas.
- Delivering the firm—Embracing and bringing the capabilities of both the Private Bank and our cross lines of business partners to our clients and prospects.
What do you love most about living in PA?
Ever since I attended Villanova, I had an affinity for the area and always felt I could live in the Philadelphia area. It’s a city that has a wonderful combination of history, the arts, sports and an incredibly diverse population. Pittsburgh is an area I became very familiar with during my time in Ohio. In some ways, it reflects many of the wonderful qualities of the larger cities in the Midwest: A hardworking population that is loyal and committed to the area where they work and live.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
During my spare time, I really enjoy down time with my wife and our three girls. I am very focused on health and wellness, and I love to golf, though I wish I was a better player!
