Matthew Gastall
Matthew Gastall is an Executive Director of Fixed Income Credit and Strategy. Matt joined J.P. Morgan Securities from Morgan Stanley in 2024.
Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, Matt was the Head of Morgan Stanley’s Fixed Income Strategy Team, the firm’s Chief Municipal Strategist, and Head of Municipal Research and Strategy. Throughout fourteen years, Matt authored over 800 investment strategy and portfolio management publications, led Morgan Stanley’s only externally-approved fixed income credit team, and determined the investment guidance for the firm’s CIO and +$200 billion AUM. He has been featured over one hundred times in national media outlets such as Bloomberg, Barron’s, The Bond Buyer, and CNBC. In 2018, Matt was formally invited to Beijing to help advise the expansion of Asia’s municipal bond markets.
Matt joined Morgan Stanley twenty-three years ago in 2002. He is a full Rhode Island Centennial Scholar, holds an Economics and Finance BS degree from Providence College, and is a New York City member of the National Federation of Municipal Analysts (NFMA). He and his wife, Siobhan, have two children and live in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
