Joe Bakalian
Head of Mid-Atlantic and Ohio Lending
Joe Bakalian is the head of the lending team responsible for the Mid-Atlantic and Ohio markets. He has fifteen years of lending experience within the financial services industry at J.P. Morgan. Joe regularly provides customized lending solutions for clients, including, but not limited to, loans collateralized by aircraft, art, life insurance policies, commercial real estate, liquid securities, other illiquid assets as well as unsecured loans.
As a previous member of J.P. Morgan Private Bank’s Financial Sponsors Group, Joe has an extensive background structuring transactions involving private equity and venture capital funds across the U.S. including, subscription, LP secured programs, management company fee secured loans.
Joe was previously part of the Private Bank’s Sports Finance Group, where he advised North American professional sports team owners on team and stadium financings. He was a key deal team member for many large-scale J.P. Morgan-led syndicated transactions, which included several headline acquisitions.
Prior to joining the Sports Finance Group, he worked in the J.P. Morgan Investment Bank, primarily focused on counterparty credit of private equity funds, hedge funds, asset managers and REITS. While in this role, he worked on a variety of fund finance, leveraged buyout, corporate recapitalization and structured capital markets transactions.
Joe joined J.P. Morgan in 2011 after graduating Summa Cum Laude from Fordham University. He earned an undergraduate degree in Business, with a major in Finance and a minor in Economics. He is from Southern New Jersey, lived in New York City for fourteen years, and currently resides in Philadelphia.
