Rick Barragan
Rick Barragan is a Managing Director and Market Manager in the Los Angeles office of J.P. Morgan Private Bank. Rick manages a team of Bankers and Specialists who deliver differentiated strategies that care for the unique requirements of significant wealth.
In his 30+ year career with J.P. Morgan, Rick has amassed a strong track record in various senior leadership positions spanning various economic cycles. Currently, Rick is playing an influential role in expanding the firm’s presence in the greater L.A. area.
Rick began his career in 1988 in the Global Credit Risk Management Group and soon moved to the American Depositary Receipt Group, responsible for client relationships in Latin America and South Africa. During this time, he traveled extensively, helping bring many foreign issuers to the U.S. marketplace.
In 1997, Rick joined the Equity Derivatives Group as an equity swaps trader and rose to the Head of Sales for the Equity Finance Desk, covering institutional investors in the Americas, EMEA and Asia. He pivoted from the Investment Bank to Private Banking as a Team Lead and now, Market Manager.
Rick is a graduate of Wesleyan University, where he earned a B.A. and was a campus recruit to J.P. Morgan’s training program. He holds an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.
Rick has co-chaired and founded the Corporate and Investment Bank Black Leadership Forum and has co-chaired the Sales & Trading Summer Internship Program. He is currently a co-sponsor of The Fellowship Initiative, a program that provides intensive academic support and leadership development for young men of color.
Passionate about philanthropy and racial equity, Rick devotes his time to helping families and communities in diverse neighborhoods. He is a member of the Board of Directors for The Debbie Allen Dance Academy, Green Dot Public Schools, California, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro LA, and the Los Angeles Urban League.
