Hi, I'm Katie Brody. I'm the market team lead for JP Morgan's Private Bank office here in Pasadena, and this is my leadership spotlight.
I'm a California girl at heart, but I grew up in New Jersey. I grew up in North Jersey, and I attended Georgetown University in Washington, DC for my undergraduate degree. I moved to New York City after college. I worked at an investment bank on Wall Street for a few years. I started in the summer of 2008 at the peak of the financial crisis, so it was an interesting time to have my introduction to finance. I spent a few years there, and then I left to pursue something different.

I attended culinary school in New York City, where I studied baking and pastry art. I had always loved baking and preparing special desserts for family and friends for celebrations. Fast forward a couple of years and I moved to Los Angeles. I came back into finance after spending some time in the culinary world, so I like to say I went from banking to baking and back to banking. And what I found was working with private clients in so many ways was similar to what really drew me into hospitality.
In the Private Bank, our core offering is really delivering exceptional value and exceptional service to our clients. We really strive to deliver an elevated experience in banking, and that's at the core of what we do here in the Private Bank and was so similar to many of the reasons I was drawn into hospitality.
What brings me in every day excited to come to work is the people. It's the amazing clients that we work with, and it's our incredible team. I'm so inspired each day by our team. They bring their full selves to work. They are extraordinarily dedicated to their clients and to our firm and to our business, and it's amazing to see. It makes me want to do better. It makes me want to learn and grow and keep pushing forward to grow our team, our business, and the impact that we can have here in Pasadena.

There is so much creativity and business growth going on here and so much that's drawing new families to come and have their kids go to school here and build their lives here. One of the things that makes Pasadena so unique is the commitment that so many Pasadena folks have to their community. It's one of the most philanthropic cities in the country. It has more non-for-profits per capita than almost any city in the United States. So a big part of what we're trying to do to show up in the community and show our commitment as our JP Morgan team is engage with different community organizations, offer our skills and resources.
It's been a privilege to have the opportunity to introduce our private bank brand to a new market. We're meeting new families. We're bringing in talented bankers, and to be part of the success journey of our entire team is something that I find so much value and meaning every day when I come into work. It's working one on one with my team. It's working with my clients and their clients really to help grow our business and the impact that we can have in the community here in Pasadena.
Someone said to me recently that as a leader your voice is a little louder. So I think a lot about how I can use that power to elevate my team.
