Q&A
Tell us your background.
With over 25 years in the investment and financial services industry, I’ve held leadership, fund management and advisory roles in both public and private markets. My career has taken me from London—where I advised institutional clients across Europe and the Middle East—to entrepreneurial ventures in private equity and investment management, and ultimately to serving clients and leading wealth management teams in Michigan. Most recently, I served as a Regional Director at another private bank, overseeing a large practice serving families across West Michigan.
Outside of work, my wife, Katie, and I have been happily married for 25 years, raising two sons—one in college and the other in high school.
Describe your leadership style.
My leadership style is rooted in collaboration and trust. I believe that true leadership is about empowering others to succeed by leveraging their strengths and fostering their growth. I am committed to ensuring that our clients experience the advantages of a cohesive and thoughtful team. Above all, I lead with authenticity and integrity, as I understand that when people trust both the mission and the leader, they are inspired to give their best.
How would your colleagues describe you?
Approachable, collaborative, thoughtful and fun.
What’s the best piece of advice you were ever given?
The best piece of advice I ever received was to embrace a sense of adventure and curiosity. By adopting a learner’s mindset, I’ve been able to approach new experiences with openness and enthusiasm. This willingness to learn, grow, serve and adapt has enabled me to achieve many incredible things throughout my life and career.
What excites you most about joining J.P. Morgan Private Bank?
I’m excited to bring the best of J.P. Morgan Private Bank to individuals and families here in Michigan by combining a world-class global platform with a deeply personal, relationship-driven approach that defines this community. Leading a team that helps clients navigate complex financial decisions with clarity and purpose is both a privilege and an opportunity I’m thrilled about.
What do you love most about Michigan?
I grew up in Michigan, but my career has taken me around the world, with significant time spent in London, Chicago, Scottsdale and across the United States, Canada and the Middle East. These experiences have broadened my perspective and deepened my appreciation for this community. When my wife and I returned to West Michigan over a decade ago, it truly felt like coming home. I am grateful to serve clients in a place where my roots run deep. Michigan is not only a beautiful state but also one that has continually reinvented itself over the past several decades. It’s a wonderful place to build a business and raise a family.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I have a passion for the outdoors, whether it’s hiking, traveling, golfing or enjoying quality time with family and friends at the lake. Additionally, I am deeply committed to community involvement, serving on the boards of Broadway Grand Rapids and the World Affairs Council, and actively supporting organizations like Scouts BSA and Young Life.
What’s something your colleagues might be surprised to learn about you?
I love adventure, whether it’s hiking mountains, exploring new places or investing in new businesses. Over the years, I’ve been involved in numerous entrepreneurial ventures, and gain tremendous energy from structuring deals and building investments. Friends know I can’t resist an adventure, be it hiking, exploring or creating new investment opportunities.
