Managing Director Market Manager
Mr. Barragan is a Managing Director and the Market Manager for Los Angeles.
Mr. Barragan joined J.P. Morgan in 1988 as a management trainee and had his first permanent placement in the Global Credit Risk Management Group.
In 1991, he joined the American Depositary Receipt Group and was responsible for client relationships in Latin America and South Africa. For the next 4 years, Mr. Barragan traveled extensively throughout these regions, helping bring many foreign issuers to the US marketplace.
In 1995, as part of the Firm-wide Diversity Initiative, Mr. Barragan assumed responsibilities for Diversity Recruiting at J.P. Morgan. In this capacity, he managed relationships with Faculty, Administration, and Student Organizations across the Nation. At this time, Mr. Barragan also entered the Executive MBA Program at Columbia University.
In 1997, he then joined the Equity Derivatives Group as an equity swaps trader on the Equity Finance desk. Mr. Barragan traded equity swaps for 5 years, then became Head of Sales for the Equity Finance Desk in 2002, selling Total Return Swaps to Institutional Investors in the Americas, EMEA, and Asia. Swap asset classes include Common Equities, Preferred Equities, ETFs, Bonds, Custom Baskets, Indexes, and Bank Debt.
Mr. Barragan has Co-Chaired and Founded the Corporate and Investment Bank Black Leadership Forum at J.P. Morgan, and has Co-Chaired the Sales & Trading Summer Internship Program. He has supported the Harlem Children’s Zone, Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO), The Children’s Aid Society, and Inroads. Mr. Barragan is currently Co-Executive Sponsor for The Fellowship Initiative (TFI) in Los Angeles.
