
Maggie McGuire O’Brien is a Managing Director and Co-Head of the J.P. Morgan Private Bank Chicago office. She leads and manages a team of more than 200 bankers, investors, credit executives, trust and estate attorneys, and client service professionals. Maggie’s team is dedicated to providing wealth management advice and strategies to executives, founders, foundations, families, and family offices. Her team oversees more than $160 billion of client assets and the organization has been serving Chicago for over 160 years.
Maggie has deep roots in Chicagoland which enables her to play an active and visible role in expanding J.P. Morgan’s presence in the community. She is a member of the Illinois Market Leadership Team for J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., a group of the state’s most senior leaders that works together to deliver the vast global resources of J.P. Morgan to clients. This group also presides over community giving efforts. Since 2016, the total of J.P. Morgan’s business and philanthropic investments in Chicago’s underserved communities exceeds $800 million.
Driven by a genuine desire to make a meaningful impact Maggie is committed to using her position and influence to foster positive change in the lives of others and contribute to a better world. She’s been both a formal and informal mentor to countless young professionals over the years. She has created and taught a variety of financial literacy seminars for a wide range of audiences, served as an advisory council member for Youth Guidance’s Becoming a Man program, served on the board of the Youth Job Centers of Evanston, and is involved in a number J.P. Morgan’s business resource groups which foster leadership and networking opportunities and advance the firm’s commitment to diverse perspectives and community involvement. Maggie is a member of The Chicago Network, The Commercial Club of Chicago, and is a 2025 Daniel Burnham Fellow.
Prior to joining J.P. Morgan in 2019, Maggie served in a variety of leadership positions at BMO Financial Group. In addition to leading two markets in BMO’s Private Bank, she also held leadership positions in Credit Risk Management and Commercial Banking and has extensive experience working directly with privately held businesses.
Maggie earned a BA in Finance from Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. She holds the Series 7, 63, 9 and 10 securities licenses as well as Illinois Life and Health Insurance certifications. Maggie grew up on Chicago’s North Shore and currently resides in Wilmette, IL with her husband and four children.
