How to use check fraud protection
Check fraud protection helps protect your account from check fraud or misuse by allowing you to monitor the checks you issue for potential fraud.
We offer two types of check fraud protection depending on your needs: Check monitoring and Check protection services. You can select one or the other of these services for each account and manage your selections with J.P. Morgan Online℠.
With Check monitoring, you review checks presented for payment, or checks over a chosen dollar amount.
- Checks are listed online with check images when available
- You review each check, and elect to "Pay, Return, or Adjust" the check amount
- All decisions must be made by 4PM ET or the checks will be paid
- There are two optional alerts1 you can subscribe to and receive a notification when you have check exceptions to review, and when there is one hour remaining to review your pending checks
With Check protection services, we verify checks presented for payment against a list of checks you provide.
- You submit check information on items you have issued, either through manual entry or by uploading a file of check details. Information must be entered by 8PM EST to make them available the next business day
- We validate checks presented for payment against your information, and anything received that is not on your list is an exception that requires review
- You tell us if we should “Pay, Return, or Adjust” the check amount for that item
- All decisions must be made by 4PM EST or the check will be returned
- There are two optional alerts you can subscribe to and receive a notification when you have check exceptions to review, and when there is one hour remaining to review your pending checks
