Peter H. Hoopis, ChFC
Peter Hoopis serves as Executive Director, Life Insurance Specialist for J.P. Morgan Private Bank, where he supports the Midwest region by partnering with our bankers and wealth advisors to deliver sophisticated, tailored insurance strategies for ultra-high-net-worth clients.
With over 25 years of experience in financial services, Peter specializes in the integration of life insurance into complex estate and business planning solutions. His role is to serve as a strategic resource—helping clients protect, preserve, and transfer wealth efficiently while aligning with their broader financial goals.
Peter began his career as a college intern with Northwestern Mutual in 1996, where he developed a comprehensive financial planning practice. His career trajectory advanced from sales to coaching and developing advisors, eventually leading to a leadership role as Managing Director. Peter then became a General Agent with MassMutual in downtown Chicago. There he achieved significant growth, expanding the advisor team from 20 to over 90.
Throughout his career, Peter has worked closely with advisors, attorneys, CPAs, and families to design objective, high-impact strategies using tools like Life Insurance, Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts (ILITs), and advanced gifting techniques.
Peter holds the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation. He also possesses FINRA Series 6, 7, 63, 9, 10, 24, 26, and 66 licenses. His commitment to excellence and dedication to his team have made him a respected leader in the financial services sector.
Outside of his professional life, Peter enjoys spending time with his wife, Melissa, and their four daughters. He is also passionate about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and can often be found practicing on the mats.
