Martyn Goossen is a Vice Chairman with J.P. Morgan Private Bank, serving the Southern Region. In his senior relationship-driven role, Marty works closely with some of the area’s largest and most influential families to offer a long-term continuity of experience. He serves as a powerful conduit to the extensive resources of J.P. Morgan, across all lines of business and broad intellecutal capital of one of the world's leading global financial organizations.
Marty brings more than 45 years of wealth management and investment banking experience to advise on the complexities of institutional-sized capital. He is adept at delivering J.P. Morgan's deep expertise in investments, banking, credit, estate planning and philanthropic goals. Marty dedicates himself to solving the multi-generational challenges faced by affluent families. He establishes a tremendous rapport with clients, many of whom date back to the early days of his career.
For almost three decades, Marty worked in Asia, beginning in the Hong Kong office of Citibank, where he was charged with expanding the firm’s international banking business. In 1988, he joined J.P. Morgan to run the Private Bank in Tokyo and later the entire Southeast Asia market. Marty returned to the United States as Head of the Houston Private Bank and President of the Houston Region. In 2017, he was appointed to the Vice Chairman position.
Marty received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. Earlier, he earned a B.S. in Economics from Union College in Schenectady, New York. Marty values the benefit of education and is a Director of the Singapore American School Foundation. He is also a member of the Council of Overseers at Rice University’s Jones School of Business.
Now living in Houston for the past fourteen years, Marty has undertaken several civic leadership roles to give back to his adopted city. He serves on the boards of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Asia Society Texas Center, Central Houston, Inc. and the Houston Zoo.
Marty and his wife, Kathy, have two adult sons who were born and raised in Asia. The hallmark of his family is the close relationship they share, and he feels fortunate that everyone has reconvened in the immediate area.
