Gena Hatcher
Gena Hatcher is a Managing Director and Wealth Advisor in the New York office of J.P. Morgan Private Bank. Gena works with some of the firm’s most high-profile clients, including founders and CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, private equity and hedge fund principals, and multigenerational real estate families. Her focus is on leveraging the extensive opportunities derived from strategic tax and wealth planning to maximize their personal, commercial and charitable goals.
Gena is known for her creativity, for the breadth of her knowledge of tax planning techniques, and for the sensitivity and care with which she guides clients and individuals through intergenerational wealth planning and legacy building. She forges close and lasting relationships, and has a deep awareness of the familial and personal considerations at play. Gena also has knowledge on the complexities these clients often face—planning with illiquid assets (including investment fund holdings and private firm holdings), dealing with concentrated positions subject to public reporting, and navigating potential public markets and succession planning implications of how clients manage their assets.
Formerly Counsel at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett—one of the leading law firm practices in the wealth planning space—Gena has over 15 years of experience advising ultra-high-net worth individuals and families on transfer tax strategies and estate planning. She has worked with private equity and hedge fund founders and executives, public company founders and CEOs, financial services executives, real estate families and fashion designers.
In 2003, Gena received her J.D. from New York University School of Law. She graduated cum laude from Amherst College, earning a B.A.
Gena resides in Manhattan with her husband and two young children.
