Biography
Maria Alejandra Oltra, Executive Director, is an Advisor in the J.P. Morgan Philanthropy Centre, whose mission is to provide innovative advice, thought leadership and learning opportunities for philanthropists globally.
In her current role, Maria Alejandra advises individuals and families who have a range of funding interests. She helps in the development and implementation of individualized giving strategies and often works with families on matters related to succession, family decision-making, mission development and other long-term planning issues.
Prior to joining J.P. Morgan in 2016, Maria Alejandra was a Manager at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), an initiative of the Clinton Foundation. At CGI, Maria Alejandra helped the organization recruit and engage with corporations, NGOs, foundations and individual members toward solving the world's most pressing problems. Additionally, Maria Alejandra worked alongside CGI’s leadership to develop recruitment strategies for the broader organization. She also participated in the planning and execution of CGI's inaugural international events in Marrakech and Rio de Janeiro that were attended by global business, government and NGO leaders and personalities. In this capacity, she also advised members on identifying, developing and implementing Commitments-to-Action across diverse content areas. Previously she held research roles at Roubini Global Economics in New York and at the Lemann Foundation in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
She has a Master in Public Administration in International Development from the Harvard Kennedy School in Cambridge, MA and a B.A. in Economics from the Universidad CatólicaAndrés Bello in Caracas, Venezuela.
A native of Venezuela, Maria Alejandra has lived in Caracas, Sao Paulo, Boston and New York and speaks native Spanish, fluent English and advanced Portuguese.
