Monica Fuentes
Monica Fuentes is an Executive Director and Head of IIS for Latin America at JPMorgan’s Private Bank. She is responsible for developing and implementing the investment strategy aligned with the client’s long-term financial goals and risk parameters—and tailoring investment strategies to meet the unique needs and preferences of each client.
Monica is a seasoned financial executive with a rich background in managing diverse portfolios and driving operational excellence within the financial industry. As the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operations Officer at SHS Asset Management in New York in 2022, she navigated the intricacies of Knowledge Graph technology and AI quantitative hedge fund. In her previous role as Chief Investment Officer and Macro Portfolio Manager at O’Brien Investment Group, Monica played a pivotal role in institutionalizing the investment side of a large family office. During her tenure as Macro Portfolio manager at COMAC Capital in London, she successfully navigated the European Sovereign Debt Crisis. Monica started her career at Goldman Sachs in New York in 2003, first working as Global Macro Strategist, and then in the Macro Proprietary Trading desk in London.
Monica holds B.A. in Economics with a major in Mathematics from Universidad de los Andes and a Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University, where her dissertation focused on contagion in asset prices and monetary policy under the guidance of Nobel laureate Joseph Stiglitz.
