Situation
Pooja’s son, Vijay, was studying abroad in Madrid, so she obtained a J.P. Morgan debit card for him so he could easily make transactions or withdraw cash with no foreign transaction fees. Unfortunately, Vijay’s wallet was stolen right before a weekend trip to Barcelona, leaving him unable to make payments or withdraw cash.
Our Approach
Vijay was able to quickly access his account through the J.P. Morgan Mobile® app to freeze his stolen card, and he requested a new card on an expedited basis. Pooja sent Vijay a foreign exchange wire so he could access euros in his account without either of them having to visit a branch. If he needed cash, Vijay was advised to use the “Find ATM” function on the app to locate branches nearby. He then set up digital payment capabilities, including Zelle® and digital wallets, where his new card information was automatically updated.
Outcome
Pooja was relieved that the J.P. Morgan team was able to help Vijay in an urgent situation— without either of them needing to go to a physical branch.
