Why should anybody choose the Private Bank in the Carolinas? You should choose the Private Bank in the Carolinas because you have the resources of a fortress balance sheet with incredible talent. Most of the people on the team have roots in the Carolinas, whether they grew up here, or they went to school here.
I grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina. It makes me feel proud to be part of this community, to have trained in New York for 16 years and to finally have come back home. I think that what makes JP Morgan different is the culture, and the people. It's why I ultimately decided to leave the military and come to this firm specifically. I've never wanted to be average. I want to be a part of a team that is exceptional.
I think one of the great things about the way that we've structured the Private Bank in the Carolinas is that we really think about the Carolinas wide economy. It's not just here in Charlotte, it's across Raleigh, it's across Charleston. I spend a couple of days a month down there, a couple of days in Raleigh, really focusing on our set of clients which, in my world, is really our most sophisticated investors.
We realize the wealth that is present across the Carolinas. And we're continuing to see different individuals, companies, moving into the region that could benefit from our advice. We cover a broad range of clients, whether it is c-suite executives, financial sponsors, real estate individuals, entrepreneurs, family business owners, and even those with generational wealth. And so we find that being able to have the full suite of offerings allows us to fully cover every need that a client could have.
Clients have a variety of different goals, interests, and objectives, that they want to achieve over the course of their lifetime. Whether that be something along the lines of a potential business transition strategy. Whether that be philanthropic goals. We want to be integral in every aspect of our clients' lives.
The reality is, in 30 years, when one of my clients trusts is paying out income to their kids, I'm probably going to be retired at that point. And so I want to make sure that the institution that I'm working with, and that my clients are working with, have a pipeline set up that we're able to create continuity around that for our families. We've been in this business for nearly 200 years. It's something that I think is a legacy that we want to be able to continue.
Being at the table with some of the founders in Charlotte, it's an honor. It's a privilege to advise these families who are second and third generation owners, and they're leaving their baby, essentially. It's something that they've spent their whole lives building, and they're coming to me for advice on how to structure their estate plan, on how to think about borrowing and investing. And that's something I take very seriously. And I have found a newfound sense of purpose in that role.
I look back to what I think is what's so appealing about the Carolinas from a client's perspective, and that is that you have a very large firm with resources, but you have a local feel, and you have bankers who sit here in Charlotte and Raleigh and serve our local communities. We're in this market. We've invested a lot in this market as a firm, and as a private bank. And we're so excited to see what the future holds. We have a lot of opportunities to grow and to get better.

Meet Carrie Galloway, Managing Director and Head of the Carolinas at J.P. Morgan Private Bank
[SOFT MUSIC]
Hi. My name is Carrie Galloway, and this is my Leadership Spotlight.
I grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, after a short stint in South Carolina. I was born in Anderson. And I went to high school in Raleigh and then went to University of Virginia for college, came back to the Carolinas for law school. I attended UNC Chapel Hill, then moved up to New York, where I practiced law for about a decade.
Practicing law teaches you a lot. It teaches you patience, persistence, focus, and a strong attention to detail. And that's helped me in financial services because I think some of the skills that people who've always been in financial services have are related to the bigger picture and connecting with clients and really exercising the EQ. But that IQ and very intellectual part of practicing law has helped me advising clients.
Nothing gets me more excited every day than to meet clients or prospective clients to learn more about their families, about their needs, about the issues that we can help them with. And I also love helping people. I pull in my skills from practicing trust and estates law every single day.
I love leading a team. I love managing people. This specific role, I think, is the best of all worlds because I get to interact with clients. I get to plan out and execute on a strategy. I'm growing a market, which is very exciting to me. We just opened up an office in Raleigh. I think energy is contagious. And we have a very lively office. That's how I lead.
I think it's incredibly important to show up and set an example for your team. I'm asking my team to show up every day. And I'm there with them. My leadership style is certainly one of a coach. And I'm extremely enthusiastic and passionate about what I do. And I lead with a lot of energy.
There was always a draw for us to come back to North Carolina. I'm from Raleigh. My husband's from Winston-Salem. And we knew that we always wanted our children and for us to ultimately end up where our families are, where our friends are, and where our roots are. And ultimately, it was just the perfect timing and the perfect role and opportunity since this market is growing, but also thanks, in part, to the incredible culture here, the community. The South is an incredible draw. It's an easy place to live. People are kind. People are very welcoming. And so it was not a difficult decision.
What I hope to accomplish as market manager here in the Carolinas is, first and foremost, to ensure that our clients are satisfied, that they can rely on us to help them maintain their wealth and grow their wealth, and also to achieve their goals, both near-term and long-term, and from the perspective of their generation, and also subsequent generations. It makes me feel proud to be part of this community, to have trained in New York for 16 years, and to finally have come back home. It feels great to be part of this community. And frankly, it's been an easy transition because of how welcoming and wonderful the people are in Charlotte.
