[MUSIC PLAYING]
Over the last few years, Las Vegas has been so dynamic and growing. The energy is almost palpable. You can see so many professional sports teams moving here. The performance venues are world recognized. You see them shared on all this different social media-- and just the population.
It's changing so much. It's growing so much. And that's what's so exciting about what we're building here, is that as Las Vegas grows, JPMorgan is growing here as well. And the team is growing to serve it.
I'm really excited to be part of the founding team in Las Vegas. I spent my whole life here, and I've seen different types of companies and a lot of investment, overall, in the city, whether that's quality of education, health care. It really feels like the city has taken to a new level.
I've seen our team grow from six people, now we're up to 17. And we have a permanent office space, which is beautiful. And so I think it's really evident that JP Morgan is here, and here to stay, and is excited to participate in the growth of Las Vegas.
Our impact in the community here in southern Nevada is important to us. We've made a concerted effort to make sure that we're supporting the community in more than just volunteerism and more than just monetarily as well. So being engaged, and providing some thought leadership to the boards that we sit on, and making sure that we're out there in the community supporting whatever we can do, it's very important to us to do that.
We have a great firm, and we have a great brand recognition. But what I personally think that sets us apart is the people at our firm and what we do for our clients. We have great people working for us. I really enjoy coming to work every single day. And I'm very fortunate to be able to say that.
I know people don't mostly talk about work as being your break from outside, but these are some of my best friends. I've created multiple relationships. They've helped me progress to the man that I am today. JPMorgan, essentially, raised me from coming out of college. I didn't have that many resources like that outside from just my own family, so I really leaned in on my managers.
And that's when I say we're a truly a family-oriented office, that is what it is. Some of our clients are having some of the biggest liquidity events, and they have no idea what to do with their money or their assets. Their lives are going to change. And this is a very complicated and very stressful time with them, and just say like, hey, I'm here, and I have your back.
What I value most about working for JPMorgan Private Bank is our people. We have such intellectual capital here at the firm, but we also have just such an amazing culture that I'm really, really grateful to be a part of. And if we don't have an amazing culture, and closeness, and accountability amongst each other to help our clients achieve those goals, then I don't think we'd be as great as what we do.
Over my life, I've had the privilege of living and working in several countries around the world. I want to make sure that the people that live here are serviced by what I feel and have lived through, and working in different banks, one of the greatest banks in the world. You get advice from around the world delivered to you here locally. So it only makes it that much more exciting that we actually get to do this here in such a dynamic and booming city like Las Vegas, which I get to call home.

Over the last few

You can see so many professional

I'm really excited to be part of
the founding team in Las Vegas.
00:01:16.303 --> 00:01:18.563 align:middle line:84%
I spent my whole
life here, and I've
00:01:18.563 --> 00:01:20.393 align:middle line:84%
seen different
types of companies
00:01:20.393 --> 00:01:22.553 align:middle line:84%
and a lot of investment,
overall, in the city,
00:01:22.553 --> 00:01:24.983 align:middle line:84%
whether that's quality of
education, health care.
00:01:24.983 --> 00:01:37.193 align:middle line:84%
It really feels like the city
has taken to a new level.
00:01:37.193 --> 00:01:40.763 align:middle line:84%
I've seen our team grow from

And we have a permanent office

it's really evident
00:01:44.903 --> 00:01:47.183 align:middle line:84%
that JP Morgan is
here, and here to stay,
00:01:47.183 --> 00:02:12.144 align:middle line:84%
and is excited to participate
in the growth of Las Vegas.
00:02:12.144 --> 00:02:14.324 align:middle line:84%
Our impact in the community
here in southern Nevada
00:02:14.324 --> 00:02:15.294 align:middle line:90%
is important to us.
00:02:15.294 --> 00:02:17.804 align:middle line:84%
We've made a concerted
effort to make sure
00:02:17.804 --> 00:02:21.224 align:middle line:84%
that we're supporting
the community in more
00:02:21.224 --> 00:02:25.074 align:middle line:84%
than just volunteerism and more
than just monetarily as well.
00:02:25.074 --> 00:02:28.304 align:middle line:84%
So being engaged, and providing
some thought leadership
00:02:28.304 --> 00:02:30.392 align:middle line:84%
to the boards that we
sit on, and making sure
00:02:30.392 --> 00:02:31.934 align:middle line:84%
that we're out there
in the community
00:02:31.934 --> 00:02:34.424 align:middle line:84%
supporting whatever we can
do, it's very important to us
00:02:34.424 --> 00:02:44.335 align:middle line:90%
to do that.
00:02:44.335 --> 00:02:47.855 align:middle line:84%
We have a great firm, and we
have a great brand recognition.
00:02:47.855 --> 00:02:50.335 align:middle line:84%
But what I personally
think that sets
00:02:50.335 --> 00:02:53.275 align:middle line:84%
us apart is the
people at our firm
00:02:53.275 --> 00:02:55.945 align:middle line:90%
and what we do for our clients.
00:02:55.945 --> 00:02:58.715 align:middle line:84%
We have great people
working for us.
00:02:58.715 --> 00:03:02.575 align:middle line:84%
I really enjoy coming to
work every single day.
00:03:02.575 --> 00:03:14.361 align:middle line:84%
And I'm very fortunate
to be able to say that.
00:03:14.361 --> 00:03:16.371 align:middle line:84%
I know people don't
mostly talk about work
00:03:16.371 --> 00:03:18.261 align:middle line:84%
as being your
break from outside,
00:03:18.261 --> 00:03:20.161 align:middle line:84%
but these are some
of my best friends.
00:03:20.161 --> 00:03:22.141 align:middle line:84%
I've created multiple
relationships.
00:03:22.141 --> 00:03:25.480 align:middle line:84%
They've helped me progress
to the man that I am today.
00:03:25.480 --> 00:03:28.741 align:middle line:84%
JPMorgan, essentially, raised
me from coming out of college.
00:03:28.741 --> 00:03:30.551 align:middle line:84%
I didn't have that
many resources
00:03:30.551 --> 00:03:32.711 align:middle line:84%
like that outside from
just my own family,
00:03:32.711 --> 00:03:37.535 align:middle line:84%
so I really leaned
in on my managers.
00:03:37.535 --> 00:03:41.365 align:middle line:84%
And that's when I say we're a
truly a family-oriented office,
00:03:41.365 --> 00:03:42.485 align:middle line:90%
that is what it is.
00:03:42.485 --> 00:03:45.685 align:middle line:84%
Some of our clients are having
some of the biggest liquidity
00:03:45.685 --> 00:03:47.395 align:middle line:84%
events, and they
have no idea what
00:03:47.395 --> 00:03:49.702 align:middle line:84%
to do with their
money or their assets.
00:03:49.702 --> 00:03:51.035 align:middle line:90%
Their lives are going to change.
00:03:51.035 --> 00:03:54.115 align:middle line:84%
And this is a very
complicated and very stressful
00:03:54.115 --> 00:03:56.485 align:middle line:84%
time with them, and just
say like, hey, I'm here,
00:03:56.485 --> 00:04:03.719 align:middle line:90%
and I have your back.
00:04:03.719 --> 00:04:06.799 align:middle line:84%
What I value most about working
for JPMorgan Private Bank
00:04:06.799 --> 00:04:08.209 align:middle line:90%
is our people.
00:04:08.209 --> 00:04:10.879 align:middle line:84%
We have such intellectual
capital here at the firm,
00:04:10.879 --> 00:04:12.949 align:middle line:84%
but we also have just
such an amazing culture
00:04:12.949 --> 00:04:15.029 align:middle line:84%
that I'm really, really
grateful to be a part of.
00:04:15.029 --> 00:04:17.899 align:middle line:84%
And if we don't have an
amazing culture, and closeness,
00:04:17.899 --> 00:04:19.519 align:middle line:84%
and accountability
amongst each other
00:04:19.519 --> 00:04:21.229 align:middle line:84%
to help our clients
achieve those goals,
00:04:21.229 --> 00:04:23.729 align:middle line:84%
then I don't think we'd
be as great as what we do.
00:04:23.729 --> 00:04:25.819 align:middle line:84%
Over my life, I've
had the privilege
00:04:25.819 --> 00:04:28.919 align:middle line:84%
of living and working in several
countries around the world.
00:04:28.919 --> 00:04:31.579 align:middle line:84%
I want to make sure that
the people that live here
00:04:31.579 --> 00:04:34.999 align:middle line:84%
are serviced by what I feel
and have lived through,
00:04:34.999 --> 00:04:37.309 align:middle line:84%
and working in different
banks, one of the greatest
00:04:37.309 --> 00:04:45.359 align:middle line:90%
banks in the world.
00:04:45.359 --> 00:04:48.889 align:middle line:84%
You get advice from around the
world delivered to you here
00:04:48.889 --> 00:04:49.499 align:middle line:90%
locally.
00:04:49.499 --> 00:04:51.499 align:middle line:84%
So it only makes it
that much more exciting
00:04:51.499 --> 00:04:53.479 align:middle line:84%
that we actually
get to do this here
00:04:53.479 --> 00:04:55.459 align:middle line:84%
in such a dynamic
and booming city
00:04:55.459 --> 00:06:08.554 align:middle line:84%
like Las Vegas, which
I get to call home.

Meet David Garcia, Managing Director and Market Team Lead at J.P. Morgan Private Bank, Las Vegas.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
My name is David Garcia. Welcome to JPMorgan's Private Bank here in Las Vegas.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
I'm originally from New Orleans. At the age of 19, I went to serve a mission for my church in El Salvador. Graduated from Brigham Young University. Went to University of Michigan. Studied law and business there. And from there, I went into investment banking. Did M&A both in New York City and then Mexico City. And in 2015, I actually joined JPMorgan.
I was able to hire everybody that's on this team. And so everybody I know personally. We have a great relationship. We have a great culture that I've been able to build, and not just successful bankers but quality human beings, where we lead with character and expertise. I love coming in. I love my job. I love what I do. I love my team.
So we start in the hiring process. But rather than a banker that focuses only on themselves, we want somebody who wants to win as a team. The benefit that brings to a client is, rather than just working with one banker who's thinking about herself or himself, you're working with the entire team. And what that delivers is, rather than having a jack of all trades, master of none, you really are able to have specialists. And you're able to have multiple people in the office that know who you are as a client and care about your success and care about making sure you get the best advice and proactively leading with that advice.
All of us consider ourselves very blessed to be with JPMorgan. We consider ourselves blessed to be in the roles that we have. And one of the responsibilities that we feel we have as bankers is to give back to the community. So one of the traditions we started right when we opened the office is we have quarterly service projects where we get out and involved with the community. Everybody is expected to serve on boards, be involved with different volunteer leadership groups throughout the bank, and very consistently giving back because that's just how we do our business here.
I love the power.
[LAUGHS]
The team lead, it starts with leadership, right? I get to set the tone. People are going to mirror what they see from me. And so the approach I take to working with clients, the approach I take with engaging each member of our team is how it sets the tone for our office. I'm not a micromanager. I really want people who are going to be self-starters. And whether they're a brand new banker who just joined in a most junior level to some of the more senior bankers, I want everybody to feel they not only have a seat at the table but they have a voice that I want to hear.
I like to climb mountains. I love to compete in triathlons. I love the red rock here in the west side of Las Vegas. I love the fact that within half a mile, I'm on national conservancy land. I get to go and run outdoors almost every day of the week. I get to ride my bike. I get to do so many things that in a lot of other cities I haven't been able to do. And spend that time and share that time with my family as well is just the cherry on top.
As a leader, one of the top priorities for me is to develop and help find another successor for me because I'm not going to be here forever. I want people on our team to feel like they can step in and take my spot and be prepared to do those successfully and hopefully better than I have.
So as a leader, it's bringing the team together, building a very strong, sustainable business here in Las Vegas, continuing to grow the team, and then eventually training people so that they can be successful leaders as well. And so while everybody comes from a very different background of different shades, persuasions, religions, what have you, we have one common goal. And that's been our strength. You could even say it's our superpower.
