The Private Bank’s mission is to build, preserve & transform our client’s wealth.
We work with a variety of clients to help them achieve their unique ambitions.
Our world-class economists, strategists, and investment specialists share their timely ideas and perspectives.
We have worked with clients for more than 200 years to help them achieve their unique ambitions.
Adam Newinski Co-Founder and managing partner, OTB ventures.
So I'm an entrepreneur turn investor. So I co-founded my first startup in 2000 during the internet bubble a great time. You know, it was something that we called the fintech. But in 2000, the word fintech was in existence and the bubble burst. We started to open physical outlets and exited successfully to G capital. I also co-founded a consumer bank in Ukraine with a friend of mine.
Basically, after spending quite a few years being a founder by myself and being also a corporate, I thought that I want to come back to be an entrepreneur, but in a different capacity to set up my own fund to confound OTP venture and to start working with founders and supporting the founders.
We focus on disruptive technologies. We focus on visionary founders doing really difficult tech. And we are particularly focused on three areas space and dual use and novel computing, NII, as well as robotics and physical AI.
We are looking for unique ideas and good geographic focus. But by far the most important thing is the the most important criteria is a unique founder founder that can take the company from zero to a great success, and desire just a handful of great personalities that can actually make it happen.
In OTB ventures. We are big believers of the sector of European resilience. We want to play an important role in it. We want to support startups and founders, building next generation European resilience companies and hopefully contribute to this trend over the next years.
We don't want to take the backseat. We don't want to be a background noise. We want to be an active investor. We understand our role. We are not the founders. The founders are at the driving seat, but we are here to support them and we are here to understand what their needs are, how we can potentially help them with growing their business, but also sometimes being an alter ego and being just a partner that can share experience and hopefully make together the success. We won't make a success without founder making a success.
JP Morgan is probably not only the largest financing institution in the world, but it's also an organization that understands very well business from different perspective, from the founders perspective, from the corporate perspective, from the deal perspective.
Being an entrepreneur, is having the vision and energy to move the mountains. The satisfaction, the energy that comes together, is just impossible to replicate. And it's close to nothing else that I can think of. And this is something that really excites me, and I hope to be doing this for the rest of my life.

An entrepreneur at heart, Adam Newinski understands what it takes to grow a successful business. Now, as co-founder of OTB Ventures, he invests in some of the most ambitious tech startups in Europe. We talk to him about his journey, what the role of a founder means—and what it’s like to switch from building businesses to backing them.
It was over 25 years ago, in the latter days of the dotcom bubble, that Adam Newinski cofounded his first tech business in what was then a relatively unknown sector called fintech.
It would prove to be a turbulent period. Despite the sector facing increasing pressure as the bubble began to burst, the company managed to evolve. Shortly after, Adam achieved a successful exit from the business. By this time, he knew he had a strong appetite for entrepreneurship and continued to look for emerging opportunities.
“I also co-founded a consumer bank in Ukraine with a friend of mine, so I’ve spent quite some time really understanding what it’s like to be a founder,” he recalls. “I then spent 16 years in banking…but I’ve always thought of myself as an entrepreneur first.”
Despite a fruitful career, Adam soon found the pull of enterprise impossible to ignore.
“I thought I wanted to come back to be an entrepreneur, but in a slightly different capacity.”
The result was OTB Ventures, which Adam co-founded in 2017. It allowed him to put his enterprising mindset to renewed use in support of European founders tackling technically ambitious ventures.
Rather than broadly investing across software, the VC firm concentrates on what Adam calls “deep tech”; businesses built around difficult scientific or engineering innovations with long development cycles.
“We focus on early-stage investments in disruptive technologies, and on visionary founders doing really difficult tech. We are particularly concentrated on three areas: space and dual use, GenAI and novel computing and robotics and physical AI.”
For Adam, though, this is about more than investing, his approach has grown from his own experiences and philosophy.
“OTB Ventures doesn’t want to take a backseat or become background noise. We want to be an active investor. We understand our role—the founders are at the driving seat—and we are here to support them and understand what their needs are.
“Sometimes being a partner that can share experiences and advice can make all the difference.”
Supporting founders is clearly central to the way OTB Ventures approaches opportunities, but every investment must start with the same question: who is worth backing?
“We look for unique ideas and good geographic focus, but by far the most important factor is someone that can take the company from zero to a great success.”
“I love [working with] founders who have a relatively strong opinion but open to discussion—and want to understand what other people have to say, then draw their own conclusions.”
While founders and leadership undoubtedly help to shape every investment decision, Adam is as equally passionate about the technologies these companies are building and the future opportunities they offer.
“We are big believers in the security resilience sector. And it’s a great time for Europe to focus on AI, space, dual use, robotics—even semiconductors. These are the topics that Europe has been strengthening for the last 18 months, and it needs to continue. We want to play an important part in it.”
It is certainly a sector that has become increasingly relevant as the world shifts towards fragmentation and technology grows ever more sophisticated. But for Adam, the key to unlocking a startup’s potential is still to focus on the founders.
“It’s important to have disruptive tech. But by far the most important [assets] are the founders.”
Supporting emerging economies and founders is a philosophy that resonates with our own values. As Adam explains, it’s often the people behind the business that ultimately determine its success.
“J.P. Morgan is not only the largest financing institution in the world, it’s also an organisation that understands business from different perspectives; both the founders and the corporate.”
We look forward to continuing our partnership with Adam into the future as he works with companies at the very forefront of technology across Europe, and to collaborate with other innovative founders and entrepreneurs across the world.
Letting founders stay in the “driving seat” while still being an active, helpful partner—and picking the right founder, since the person matters most in taking a company from “zero to a great success,” especially in deep tech with long cycles.
Firsthand founder experience: understanding what founders need, sharing practical advice, and supporting tough decision-making without taking over.
You move from executing decisions to enabling others—listening more, advising when useful, and thinking long-term around disruptive deep-tech innovation.
After building and exiting a fintech startup, co-founding a bank in Ukraine, and spending years in banking, he returned to entrepreneurship “in a slightly different capacity” by co-founding OTB Ventures in 2017 to back European deep-tech founders.

Your investments and potential conflicts of interest
Conflicts of interest will arise whenever JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. or any of its affiliates (together, “J.P. Morgan”) have an actual or perceived economic or other incentive in its management of our clients’ portfolios to act in a way that benefits J.P. Morgan. Conflicts will result, for example (to the extent the following activities are permitted in your account): (1) when J.P. Morgan invests in an investment product, such as a mutual fund, structured product, separately managed account or hedge fund issued or managed by JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. or an affiliate, such as J.P. Morgan Investment Management Inc.; (2) when a J.P. Morgan entity obtains services, including trade execution and trade clearing, from an affiliate; (3) when J.P. Morgan receives payment as a result of purchasing an investment product for a client’s account; or (4) when J.P. Morgan receives payment for providing services (including shareholder servicing, recordkeeping or custody) with respect to investment products purchased for a client’s portfolio. Other conflicts will result because of relationships that J.P. Morgan has with other clients or when J.P. Morgan acts for its own account.
Investment strategies are selected from both J.P. Morgan and third-party asset managers and are subject to a review process by our manager research teams. From this pool of strategies, our portfolio construction teams select those strategies we believe fit our asset allocation goals and forward-looking views in order to meet the portfolio's investment objective.
As a general matter, we prefer J.P. Morgan managed strategies. We expect the proportion of J.P. Morgan managed strategies will be high (in fact, up to 100 percent) in strategies such as, for example, cash and high-quality fixed income, subject to applicable law and any account-specific considerations.
While our internally managed strategies generally align well with our forward-looking views, and we are familiar with the investment processes as well as the risk and compliance philosophy of the firm, it is important to note that J.P. Morgan receives more overall fees when internally managed strategies are included. We offer the option of choosing to exclude J.P. Morgan managed strategies (other than cash and liquidity products) in certain portfolios.
The Six Circles Funds are U.S.-registered mutual funds managed by J.P. Morgan and sub-advised by third parties. Although considered internally managed strategies, JPMC does not retain a fee for fund management or other fund services.
